Madeline G. Neenan April 18, 1925 - December 27, 2016 Resident of San Jose Madeline Gertrude Neenan, nee Burke, died peacefully at her home on December 27th at the age of 91. Born in Kimeo, KS to Michael and Mae Burke, nee Diederich, Madeline spent her childhood on the family farm, and her early adult years in Manhattan, KS. Madeline moved to San Francisco in the mid-1950's, where she met John F. Neenan, a native of County Clare Ireland. They married on June 15, 1957 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Manhattan, KS. They made their home in San Jose, CA in 1961. A well-suited couple, both of even temperament and quiet disposition, they were married for 53 years until his death on August 6, 2010. She is survived by her sons Michael of Redwood City, CA and Thomas of Phoenix, AZ, plus many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Nellie Martin, Kansas City, MO; James Burke, San Antonio, TX; Marie Braddy, Manhattan, KS; and Leota Waddell, Kansas City, MO. Her surviving sister Leona Simcik, Waco, TX died Jan. 1, 2017. Madeline was employed 30 years with the U.S. federal government, the last 10 at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA as a secretary. For many decades, she strongly supported Kainos Adult Residential Home and Training Center, a facility for adults with developmental disabilities. She volunteered for more than 25 years at Queen of Apostles Parish Ascent Program, an employment agency for the disadvantaged. A loving, kind, and gracious woman, she devoted her life to her faith and family. Her compassion also drew her into lifelong friendships with many people. Visitation is at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara, CA on Jan. 9th, 5-9 PM. Funeral mass is at Queen of Apostles Church, 4911 Moorpark Ave., San Jose, CA on Jan. 10th at 11 AM. Interment in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St., Santa Clara, CA.
