Erin I. Pollard
ORANGE - Erin I. Pollard, 36, of Cheney Street, died after a brief and courageous fight with cancer late Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare-campus in Worcester. Born in Greenfield on April 2, 1980, she was a daughter of Walter and Ingrid (Krlic) Pollard and grew up in Orange and graduated from Ralph C. Mahar Regional School with the class of 1998. Following high school, Erin attended Greenfield Community College and eventually became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Erin had worked at several agencies including Catholic Charities and Quabbin Valley Healthcare, both in Athol. Erin was a very caring, loving person and stayed with many ill people, helping them in a caring way to pass. She held many peoples hands in comforting them. Erin also gave the best hugs! Music was a huge part of Erin's life and was able to play the piccolo, flute and tuba. She also gave flute music lessons to many young people in Orange, stressing how wonderful music is in peoples' lives. A member of the Orange Community Band since her freshman year in high school, she looked forward to joining the band at various events. Erin was easy going and loved nature and animals. She had also enjoyed being in the Quabbin Paranormal Group, exploring old buildings and the possibility of spirits. Survivors include her loving parents, Walter and Ingrid Pollard of Orange; her brothers, Andrew Pollard of Orange and Nicholas Pollard and his wife, Terry, of Chesterfield, Virginia, and their children, Dakota and Aidan; grandmother, Celia Krlic of Orange; aunts, Christine and Elizabeth; uncles, Edward, Ken, Bruce and Brian and several cousins. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Witty's Funeral Home in Orange with Rev. Edward Boren of the North New Salem Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange. Donations in Erin's memory can be made to the Orange Community Band, c/o Susan Tandy-Songer, 35 Williamsville Road, Phillipston, MA 01331.
