David P. "Rocket Man" McCOLLUM
McCOLLUM - David P. Legendary "Rocket Man" January 6, 2017, in Millard Fillmore Suburban while under Hospice care. Born October 11, 1956 in Ransomville, he was a son of the late Floyd C. and Dolores W. (Daunce) McCollum. David worked on farms all of his life. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1975, attended trade school for four years and then Niagara Falls night school working during the day. He also worked at Harrisons and Frontier Bronze, a Journeyman for Local 22 Plumbers and Steam Fitters out of Buffalo. He retired in 2003 after 25 years. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, landscaping, gardening, sunflowers and pumpkins, raising chickens and pigs, baking and making hot sauce. He loved to spend time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Brenda Marie (Swogier) McCollum of Newfane; children, David P. McCollum, Jr., Amanda McCollum, Alicia McCollum and Amber McCollum; seven grandchildren; brother, Floyd McCollum; and sister, Karen McCollum; also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins. Visitation will be held Tuesday 11-1 and 3-5 in the HAMILTON AND CLARK FUNERAL HOME, 270 Young Street, Wilson where Services will follow immediately. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
