Ann Davis Johnston Eleanor Ann (Haworth) Davis, 88, passed away January 5, 2017 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Glen Echo Christian Church in Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Ann was born May 24, 1928 in Port Orange, Florida to Adison Thomas and Eva Louise (Morford) Haworth. She married E. Eugene Davis and together had three children. They divorced and later Ann met Kenneth Burright. He was a devoted companion until his passing. She was an inspiration to family and friends when, at the age of 50, she went from being a housewife to a college student, enrolling at DMACC-Ankeny, where she earned an associate degree in accounting. After graduation, she worked as a cashier at Massy Ferguson AgriCredit Corp. (later AGCO) until she retired in 1995. Ann received a life-time pin from United Methodist Women's Circle and was a member of Glen Echo Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Des Moines, where she served as deaconess, elder, treasurer, and chair of funeral lunches. In her later years she often accompanied Scotty McDonald, to functions at the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Altoona. She was an area representative for Youth for Understanding and on the board for the Des Moines Area Council for International Understanding. Ann is survived by her children, Bryan (Kris) Davis, Bonnie Davis, and Betsy (Nantha) Nanthakumar grandchildren, Lauren Davis, Jeran and Jamen Nanthakumar; one sister, Shirley Richmond; and nephew, Arnold Richmond, Jr.; extended family, Kathy (Ed) Burright Shields and Kerry (Steve) Burright Hittner and their families; adopted familily, Jon and Susan Cruikshank, Hugo Santiago and Marta Quinones and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; companion, Kenneth Burright; stillborn sister, Elizabeth; brothers, William Addison "Bud" Haworth and Glenn Alvin (Ligia) Haworth. Memorial contributions may be sent to Glen Echo Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or Martina Place/Bishop Drumm Care Center.
