Carolyn E. Jones
Carolyn Esther (Frazier) Jones, 80 years old, passed on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Borgess Hospital. Carolyn was born February 26, 1936 in Battle Creek, MI, as the oldest girl of Mildred C. (Thompson) and John F.L. Frazier. Carolyn was a 1953 graduate of Kellogg Consolidated High School, pursuing her LPN degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. Her career involved working at Leila Hospital in Battle Creek, then working with an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist, before moving to part-time employment at the Provincial House. Around 1966, with the birth of her third child, she decided to stay home and focus on raising her family. Carolyn married the love of her life, Richard (Dick) H. Jones, Sr. on October 10th, 1959, in the Bedford Bible Church. She was a devoted wife of 57 years and beloved Mother of 5 children. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dick. They are survived by Richard (Rich) H. Jones, Jr and Sheryl J. Rush; Christopher A. and Christine M.(Wrubel) Jones; CheriJon E. (Jones) and Steven B. Gustufson; Matthew B. and Jody K.(Frailey) Jones; and Craig S. and Kristen L. (Heath) Jones. Carolyn and Richard traveled extensively throughout the United States and beyond. First, traveling with their children and introducing them to educational and entertaining places across the United States. Then later, as the children grew and moved out, Carolyn and Dick enjoyed traveling with her sister Nancy and her husband or by themselves. They journeyed to Alaska, Hawaii, Jamaica, Europe and the Caribbean. Carolyn and Dick also traveled to Florida each winter, where they escaped Michigan's cold and enjoyed the visits of family. They would return tanned, with gifts of oranges from their own trees. Carolyn's spirit, love of family, appearance and personality lives on in her children and grandchildren. She attended every scouting, school or special event for all the sons and daughter, and grew to including grandchildren. Her presence at all these events let her proudly witness everyone's accomplishments. She documented these events with abundant photo taking, providing a pictorial history of her family throughout the years.
