In memory of
James P. Mramor
James P. (Jimmy Plummer) Mramor, 73, died peacefully and on his own terms on the shores of Lake Erie at David Simpson Hospice House on Monday, October 17, 2016. He made the brave decision to move to hospice after 8 years of health struggles following two liver transplants. He earned the nickname Forest Gump because of his larger-than-life stories and being witness to many historical events. He served in the 82nd Airborne, quelled violence during the desegregation at Ole Miss, fought a gorilla, was an East Cleveland Police Lieutenant, and became a lawyer at age 60 fighting for what was right and representing the neglected and underserved. Jim held many executive security positions in banking as well as the Cleveland Museum of Art. He was a talented artist and excellent chef. He was a fervent fan at his kids' sporting events and coached softball for many years, of which he said were some of his happiest times. Jim's 40-year marriage to Patricia (Taddeo) Mramor was filled with many happy times, the greatest being the birth of their daughter Ali (Robin Letcher). Jim's love and pride extended to his children, Michael (Kathy, deceased) & Wendy (Craig) Whedon from his first marriage to Dolores (Derganc) Vatty (deceased). Those who loved him most include his grandchildren, Madeline Whedon, Ricky & Cody Vargo, Mackenzie & Alexis Mramor; parents Frank & Lucille Mramor (both deceased); siblings Judy (Tom) Manion, Diane (Tom) Britzman, and Sandra Mramor (deceased); and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and neighbors. Please join us for a celebration of Jim's amazing life on Saturday, October 22, 2016 in the Great Room at Mentor Senior Center, 8484 Munson Rd, Mentor, OH 44060 from 1 to 5 p.m. Words of remembrance will be shared at 2 p.m. In his memory, consider becoming an organ donor.
