Thomas Carl Reeves
Thomas Carl Reeves, a longtime Glenside resident, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2016 at his residence in Spring House Estates in Lower Gwynedd PA. Tom was a retired assistant professor at the Temple University College of Engineering. Eleanor Kreutzer Reeves, his wife of sixty years, predeceased him in 2012. Tom was born in Philadelphia on March 11, 1925 to Edna Christina Merz and Thomas Leo Reeves. His maternal grandfather, Alfred W. Merz, owned a drugstore in the Brewerytown section. Tom graduated from Northeast High School and the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a BS in Engineering. He attended NROTC, Wartime Midshipman’s School, and then served as Ensign in the US Navy aboard the USS Rollette. He returned to Penn to earn graduate degrees in Engineering and Industrial Management. He worked on radar and tracking systems for the aerospace industry at RCA and GE, and was proud of his contribution to the Minuteman missile program. After his aerospace career, he taught engineering design at Temple until his retirement in 1995. Tom is survived by his three children: Robin Reeves Zorthian (Greg) of Greenwich CT, Dr. W. Brian Reeves, MD (Susan) of San Antonio, TX, and Allison H. Reeves of Brooklyn NY. He also has four grandchildren: Christopher Reeves (Amy), Matthew Reeves, and Julia and John Zorthian, along with two great-grandsons, Anderson and Graham Reeves. A private burial service will be held at St. Peter’s Church Glenside, 654 North Easton Rd. Glenside PA 19038. Arr by John R. Freed
