In memory of
Robert Burrell "Bobby" Thompson
Robert "Bobby" Burrell Thompson, 96, of Arrow Rock, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at The Living Center in Marshall, Missouri. He was born on July 22, 1920, in Arrow Rock, Missouri, the son of Robert Lee and Neva (Townsend) Thompson. Neva passed away early in Bobby's life and Robert Lee later married Nell Huston, who helped to raise him. Bobby was married to LaVerne Young for over 47 years. She also preceded him in death. Bobby lived and worked at home his entire life, farming and raising livestock. He was a Secretary of the Missouri State Cattlemans Association. He traveled to several western and southern states and Mexico buying cattle. Bobby as his friends called him had a strong work ethic and taught his sons to visit people and take an interest in them. He attended MU Agriculture School. He was a 70-year member of the Arrow Rock Masonic Lodge #55 and a member of the Arrow Rock Federated Church. He is survived by one son, Robert Franklin Thompson, who was formerly of Cordova, Alaska, but came home in 2012 to care for his father. They were able to share many good times. He was also preceded in death by one son, James Lee Thompson, who died on the family farm. Bobby's former daughter-in-law Wendy Woldt of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin visited Bob (she always called him Bob) periodically and took him on horse and buggy rides over the farm (which he greatly enjoyed). Services will be private for the family and will be held at a later date.
