Laura E. Wright
Laura E. (Ruffner) Wright, 90, of Leechburg, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, in Pleasant Ridge Mature Living, Leechburg. Born Oct. 27, 1925, in South Bend Township, she was a daughter of the late William and Fannie (Heasley) Ruffner. Laura lived in the Leechburg area most of her life, and was primarily a homemaker that had many jobs to help provide for her family. She was employed in the maintenance department of the former Kittanning Telephone Co. in Leechburg, the bottling line at Schenley Distillery and was a sewing machine operator for the former Reid Board Brothers Pants Factory. Laura was a member of First United Methodist Church in Leechburg. She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking, gardening, canning vegetables and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Wright, in 2005; daughter, Carolyn L. Wright, in 2005; and siblings, Daniel Ruffner, Mary Holiday, Charlotte Ruffner, David Ruffner, Edith O'Hara, James Ruffner, Jane Hill, Hazel Smulik and Irene Galo. She is survived by her children, Jane A. (Larry) Ross, of Lower Burrell, James R. (Judy) Wright Jr., of Leechburg, and William R. (Sheri) Wright, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; grandchildren, Christina Hollis, of Atlanta, Ga., Kevin (Jennifer) Wright, of Murrysville, Jaclyn Wright, of New Kensington, James (Tara) Wright III, of Pittsburgh, and Ronald Wright, of Leechburg; and great-grandchildren, Nolan Wright, and twins, Natalie and Nicole Wright. At Laura's request, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, in First United Methodist Church, 251 Main St., Leechburg, with the Rev. Jerrad R. Peterman officiating. Private burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Gilpin Township. Services have been entrusted to the care of the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 300 Market St., Leechburg, PA 15656.
