Sigrid Richter Hoffman
Sigrid Richter Hoffman died of pancreatic cancer on Oct. 15, 2016, at her home in Kimberton, Pa. She was 85. The daughter of German immigrants, she grew up in Reading and graduated from Albright College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse and later as a counselor, and raised four children. Sigrid was preceded in death by her late husband, John B. Hoffman of Mt. Gretna, in 2010. She is survived by her sister, Doris Sams, brother, Max Richter; children Michael Moffitt, David (Nancy) Moffitt, Stephen (Sandra Amat) Moffitt and Jennifer Moffitt; grandchildren Emily, Matthew, and Chloe; and stepson J.B. (Margeanne) Hoffman Jr. and his children Claudia and Matthew. She also leaves behind her best friend of more than 60 years, Jody Loeffler. Sigrid was an avid gardener, a world traveler, a lover of cats, a gourmet cook and a woman of exceptional style, poise and beauty. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in her name to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, SPCA or the World Wildlife Fund.
