In memory of
Gerald Douglas "Jerry" KEEN
KEEN, Gerald Douglas "Jerry" passed away this past Monday October 17, 2016 at Bayfront Hospital. He was born in New York City, June 20, 1934. He attended De Witt Clinton High School, spent a year in Willard Parker Hospital recovering from polio, and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He attended White Plains Junior College and worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and Otis Elevator in Yonkers. Jerry's life really began when he married Nancy Kelly in 1957 and moved to Tampa in 1959. He was a founding member of Incarnation Catholic Church and served his church in many ways: Marriage Encounter, Evenings for Engaged, Carnivals, the Men's Club and others. During a long and varied career in Tampa, Jerry worked for Pittsburg Plate Glass, Southwestern Suppliers, and the Florida Aquarium. He enjoyed many years as a member of the "Florida Wheels" wheelchair basketball team. He retired to St. Petersburg and worshiped at Holy Family Catholic Church where he belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Jerry loved being with family and friends, telling jokes, and being near, on, or in the water. He was a happy man until the very end of his life. Jerry is survived by Nancy and their children, Jerry, Fayetteville, GA, Michael and Kay, St. Petersburg, FL, Nancy Feldhaus and Rob, Lutz, FL, Andrew and Connie, Sarasota, FL, Caralyn Paul and Scott, New Tampa, FL; and 11 grandchildren, Lauren, Tommy and Emily, Alex, Catherine, Joshua, Andrew, Shane, Blair, Casey, Sara, and Jenny. He also has a number of cousins in the Desiano, Paccione, and Rau families. A special thank you to his devoted caregiver, Devant; all the dedicated people of Suncoast Hospice Silver Team, especially Delphine; and our Music Man, Matt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life is Friday, October 21, at 1 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 200 78th Avenue NE, St. Petersburg FL with reception to follow.
