ANGELO Isabel Montenegro Isabel Montenegro Angelo, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on October 16, 2016, at Hospice of Northwest, Ohio. Isabel was born in the Philippines where she grew up and attended a university to further her education. Later she worked as a Program Director for the U.S. Army in Okinawa, a short time after she ventured to the U.S. to begin a new life. With encouragement from her parish priest and her college background from the Philippines, Isabel was admitted to St. Rita's, Lima, OH, to train in a new Medical Technology program becoming a trailblazer in her field as one of the first Medical Technologist. Once retired, Isabel and Ray took the opportunity to travel and visited 11 foreign countries. Isabel's favorite memories were their travels to Rome and Israel due to her Catholic religion having been a great importance in her life. A special moment in Isabel's life was her decision to become a United States Citizen. She was also very proud of her uncle, George C. He was also appointed by President Herbert Hoover as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the Philippines to oversee development as they modernized their government and new Supreme Court. Isabel loved to cook! Chinese cuisine was always one of her favorites. She took classes at the University of Toledo in Food Preparation and on occasion the instructor would call upon Isabel to demonstrate her expertise on de-boning a whole chicken and cleaning squid. Isabel also volunteered in many programs such as, teaching R.C.I.A. classes at Rosary Cathedral for 20 years, distribution of communion at Rosary Cathedral and St. Vincent's. She also served as Treasurer of the St. Vincent Retiree Association for 15 years.
