Cleo Susie Burt Thompson Call
Cleo Susie Burt Thompson Call February 2, 1920 - October 18, 2016 Cleo Susie Burt Thompson Call, sweet mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at the age of 96. Cleo was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Clarkston, Utah. She was the fourth of eight children born to Joseph John Burt and Daisy Marvella Buttars. She cherished her Clarkston roots and the love she had for her family and extended family. Cleo spent her early school years in Clarkston and graduated from North Cache High School. Cleo married Dean S. Thompson, also from Clarkston, on Nov. 27, 1940, in the Logan LDS Temple. Dean passed away May 19, 1971. Cleo worked for State Wallpaper, and after Dean was diagnosed with leukemia she became an X-ray technician. She worked hard to become certified as a registered X-ray technician. She worked at the Logan Hospital for 12 years and the Malad Hospital for 10 years. On Nov. 15, 1972, she married Ben W. Call and moved to Malad, Idaho. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home, snowmobiling and four-wheeling together with family and friends. They later retired and moved to Logan. Cleo was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many capacities. She and Ben served as temple workers in the Logan LDS Temple. They also served a mission in Des Moines, Iowa. Ben passed away Jan. 2, 2000. Cleo was always serving those around her and sharing her many talents. She volunteered as a pink lady at Logan Regional Hospital for 20 years. She enjoyed spending her time sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking rolls and pies, canning and making her "Made by Grannie" jeans and quilts. She was awarded Homemaker of the Year at the Oneida County Fair while living in Malad. Cleo treasured and honored her role as mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. If you ever had the opportunity to meet Cleo you instantly fell in love with her. She was loved and adored by all. She had a twinkle in her eye and a smile that could light up a room. She lived life to the fullest and found joy in the journey. She is survived by her children, Val Dean (Sherrin) Thompson, Susann (Blaine) Hancey and Craig (Debbie) Thompson; stepchildren, Ben (Jane) Call and Mary Ann (Darrell) Dalrymple; 21 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren; her brother John (Merle) Burt and sister-in-law Maurine Burt. Call; brothers Lavell Chuck (Elva) Burt and Lyle Burt; sisters, Norma (Lawrence) Bowen, LaRene Burt, Velma (Alvin) Davis and Merle (Marlin) Fife; and stepdaughter Elva (Larry) Allen.
