STELLA ELIZABETH MILESKI 1928 - 2016 Norwich - Stella Elizabeth Mileski, widow of Julian W. Mileski, died Sunday, October 16, 2016, with her family at her side. The daughter of Andrew J. Bogdanski and Stefania (Gurda) Bogdanski, she was born on April 29, 1928 in Pine Island, New York. She attended Pine Island and Warwick, New York schools. She was awarded her undergraduate and graduate degrees at State University of New York (SUNY), Albany, and came to Connecticut in 1950 to teach English and History at Bacon Academy, Colchester, CT. After marrying Julian Mileski of Norwich, CT in 1951 she taught at Bacon for several years before resigning to raise their family, three sons, and one daughter. Her family enjoyed many activities together, including flying, boating, fishing, and traveling throughout Connecticut and New England, and also spent many summers enjoying the beach and ocean at Montauk, NY. A longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Parish in Norwich, she was an active member of the former Ladies Guild, at one time its president, and when teaching, also a member of the Connecticut Teachers Association. Her husband of over sixty years died in 2011, and she is survived by their sons Stephen of London, England, Paul and his wife Bonnie (Pendleton) of Old Mystic, William and wife Frances (Duval) of Ledyard, daughter Kate "Phred" and husband Brad (Guarino) of New London, grandchildren Julian and John Tyler Mileski of Ledyard and Gary Pendleton of Norwich, and great grandchildren Maxwell and Ellie Pendleton of Norwich. She is also survived by her sister Teresa Pawlikowski of Pt. Pleasant, NJ, brother-in-law John Brozdowski of Middletown, NY, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 22, from 10am to 11am at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm (noon), at St. Joseph Church, Cliff St., Norwich.
