Roberta Lou Harlan (Clem) Anderson
Roberta Lou (Clem) Harlan Anderson, 83 Roberta Lou (Clem) Harlan Anderson, 83, died October 18, 2016 at her home near Kokomo. Born June 28, 1933 in Cutler, Indiana, she was the daughter of Fred and Mary M. (Sandifur) Clem. She married Francis Eugene "Frank" Harlan on September 12, 1957, and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1962. She married William C. Anderson on July 2, 1971, and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1996. She was a 1951 graduate of Cutler High School. She received training as an x-ray technician at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, where she worked for several years. She also worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. In 1965 Roberta was appointed Postmaster at the Bringhurst Post Office where she served until her retirement in 1992 She lived most of her life in Carroll and Miami counties. Roberta was active in the Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo, and its Tuesday morning Bible study class. Her hobbies included searching for antiques and collectibles at flea markets and researching genealogy records. She and her husband also operated a rock/gem shop for many years. Surviving are one son, Brian J. Harlan (wife Carolyn) of Bunker Hill; three grandchildren, Mary Harlan Silvey (husband Travis) of Carmel, Amy Harlan of Sunnyvale, CA, and Mark Harlan of Hudson, MA; a brother, James J. "Jack" Clem (wife Norma) of Bunker Hill; a sister, Barbara Thompson (husband James) of Lafayette; a sister-in-law, Carol Clem of Fort Myers, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was a "caregiver" and a very devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by four brothers, M. E. "Pat" Wallace, Frederic "Junior" Clem, David Clem and Donald Clem. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday October 20, 2016 at the Bible Baptist Church 2635 Dixon Road Kokomo IN. from 4:00pm-7:00pm Services will be held Friday October 21, 2016 at 10:00am with a one hour prior viewing at Bible Baptist Church, 2635 Dixon Road, Kokomo, with the Reverend Keith Treadway officiating. Interment will be at Ball Hill Cemetery, Cutler. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Bible Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
