Kenneth Lee Sheffer
Kenneth Lee Sheffer Mason Kenneth Lee Sheffer, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was born in Flint, Michigan to William and Thyra (Thompson) Sheffer.  A Navy veteran of WWII, Kenneth was a lifelong member of the American Legion Browne-Cavender Post #148.  Kenneth worked for the Ingham County News from 1947 to 1959 before working at the Lansing State Journal where he retired after 30 years of service in 1989. He was an active member of the Mason Lodge #70 F&AM, and Mason Chapter #150 OES and Jackson Commandery #9. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, Tom Peterson, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Susan (Hobbins); his daughters, Linda Peterson and Julie (Greg) Fay; his son, David (Lori) Sheffer; his 7 grandchildren; and his 12 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Mason First Presbyterian Church, 131 E. Maple St., Mason at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Bill Pinches and Rev. Fred Graham officiating.  Military honors will follow. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 3:30 p.m., and again from 6-8 p.m., at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Ball Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason.    Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason First Presbyterian Church or to Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 S. Cochran Rd., Charlotte, MI  48813.
