Catherine Irene Corkery Anderson, December 1941-March 2016. "Kayrene" to family and friends. Born in Evergreen Park, Il., raised in Marquette Park, (Chicago) and Villa Park. Kayrene mixed purple grape fizzies at Park Boulevard Cleaners; big fan of the Carmarsh seconds bought at Al's Smoke Shop; graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst; worked at E.I. Du Pont in Chicago; memorized showtune lyrics so she could sing along when she went to see West Side Story and South Pacific; married Donn Anderson in June of 1964, enthusiastic judge of terrible children's jokes; invented paper bag monster Halloween costumes; taught rainy day hopscotch complete with basement floor schematics; founding member of giant insect secret movie club; finder of grace, faith, compassion, and humor at all times; trainer and friend of bulldogs, mutts, reptiles, cats and kittens; lover of lilacs, Irish songs, piccalotti (ham salad) and fireworks; never turned left in her life. Passionate participant in the home masses, guitar music, Charismatic movement and Market Day programs at St. Joan of Arc parish in Lisle. Tireless social justice champion and frequently published writer of letters to Catholic journals and bishops. Insurance claims adjuster at Line Construction Benefit Fund for many years, retired from LINECO in December 2013. Kayrene passed away at home surrounded by family following a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Preceded in death by Donn, her husband of 49 years, sister Sara Corkery, parents Jack and Ella Corkery and parents -in-law Paul and Mary Anderson; survived by children Sheila (Maria) Anderson, Mike Anderson, Amy (Dave) Roller, Joe Anderson, Katie (Danny) Schnolis; grandchildren Emma, Charlie, Lucy, Connor and Grace, siblings John , Margaret "B" and Eddie (Sara) Corkery; brothers-in-law Kyle (Colette) Anderson, Dave (Bernadine) Anderson, Phillip (Jim Tibbs) Anderson, Tim (Pam Cooney) Anderson Tom (Jeannie Leahy) and sister-in-law Elizabeth Anderson; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial Visitation Wednesday March 16 from 6-9 P.M. at West Suburban Funeral Home & Cremation Services 39 N. Cass Ave., Westmont. Memorial Mass Thursday 11 A.M. at St. Joan of Arc Church 820 Division St., Lisle.
