Robert C. Butenhoff Jr.
Robert Charles Butenhoff Jr., known to most as Bob, 88, Lonedell, departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at his home surrounded by the love of his family. Bob was born Jan. 31, 1928, in St. Louis, the son of Robert Charles Butenhoff Sr. and wife Marcella, nee Gable. In 1934, he moved to Lonedell to be raised by his grandparents, George and Florence Medina. In the 1960s, he volunteered at the Lonedell Volunteer Fire Department, as well as the St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department. In 1957, he began his employment at the Clayton Fire Department in Clayton, serving as captain for many years. He retired in April 1989, after 32 years of service. Bob enjoyed many hobbies and interests during his life, but camping on the Meramec River with his family was his favorite. He enjoyed fishing and hunting deer, squirrels and rabbits.
