Sister Josita Nahlen
Sister Josita Nahlen, age 99, died October 16, 2016. The family of Joseph and Christine Rumker Nahlen welcomed their daughter, Christine Catherine, into their family July 29, 1917, in Conway, AR. Upon being received at St. Scholastica Convent June 24, 1935, she took the name Sister Mary Lucille Nahlen. At her mother's death she left the community to care for her family and re-entered St. Scholastica on September 24, 1939 taking the name of Sister Mary Josita Nahlen. She taught school for 47 years, then moved into Parish Religious Education. For the past fourteen years Sister Josita has resided at St. Scholastica and at Chapel Ridge Health and Rehab. Sister Josita is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, T. J. Nahlen and Mary Ann Nahlen; and a sister, Anna Marie Gunderman, all from Conway, Arkansas. Preceding her in death are her parents; four brothers, Clarence, Tony, Andrew, and Joseph; and two sisters, Gertrude and Theresa. Pallbearers will be her nephews Kenny Nahlen, Marty Backy, Mark Tyler, Calvin Pearce, Richard Siebenmorgen, and Paul Siebenmorgen. Honorary pall bearers are the siblings of Sister Josita. Vespers for the Dead will be Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. in the Monastery Chapel. The funeral Mass will be Friday, October 21, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jason Tyler as presider.
