Zana Faletto
Zana Ellen (Johnson) Faletto, 64, of Granbury, Texas died Monday, October 17, 2016 at the family home of causes related to cancer. Born in Minneapolis, MN., on October 3, 1952, Zana was the daughter of John G. and Helen Ann Johnson of Little Rock, AR. She grew up in Austin, and Dallas, TX, and was a 1971 graduate of Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, TX. Zana attended college at North Texas State University in Denton, TX, earning a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1975. She was married to Andy Faletto on May 23, 1975 in Dallas, TX. The couple resided in Lubbock, TX, Anchorage, AK, Lafayette, LA, The Woodlands, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Wichita, KS, and Granbury, TX., during their 41-years of marriage. Employed by the Conroe Independent School District for 17 years, Zana taught Kindergarten at David Elementary in The Woodlands, TX. She was recognized as the district's Teacher of the Year in 1995, and served as her department's team leader for many years. She was a life-long-learner receiving many additional hours of education related to the development of multiple intelligences. While raising three children, her hobbies included activities related to their interests. She enjoyed actively promoting their participation in individual and team sports, theatre, debate and scouting. She loved to camp and hike and was a parent leader in church-related youth activities such as UM Army. Later, Zana enjoyed travel and was able to visit Australia, Antarctica, Central and South America, Mexico, Alaska and many of the Lower 48 states. She made friends in each place she visited. Zana's gentle nature and kind spirit led her to devote her energies to the homeless. While in Wichita, she and her yellow retriever "Glory" were volunteers at homeless shelters, food banks and clothing distribution points. She was always concerned that people had enough to eat and a warm coat. She is survived by her husband, Andy, of the home; daughters Jennifer Faletto and husband Jonathan Christy of Boulder, CO, son John Faletto of Houston, TX; Kara and Travis Knodel of Houston, TX; brothers Johnny and James Johnson of Anchorage, AK, and Conway, AR. Zana was preceded in death by both of her parents. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church, 215 E. 10th Street in Houston, TX.
