Sister Sarah Bertler
Bertler, Sister Sarah Sister Sarah Bertler, age 62, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Sunday morning, October 16, 2016 at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. She was born on June 2, 1954 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Raymond & Alvilda (O'Malley) Bertler. She entered the Convent in 1972 and professed her vows in 1975. Sister Sarah earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Marian College, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; a Master of Science Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and a Post Masters Certificate in Nursing Education from Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sister Sarah served as a nurse at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, Wisconsin; nurse/Director of Nursing at Holy Family Memorial Hospital and St. Rita Health Center, both of Manitowoc and Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville, Ohio; she served as a faculty member in nursing at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, Manitowoc, and adjunct faculty at Bellin School of Nursing, Green Bay, Wisconsin; and provided Sister Presence at St. Francis Hospital, West Point, Nebraska. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; and one brother and two sisters-in-law: Raymond (Jasmin) and Rita Bertler. Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Alvilda (O'Malley) Bertler; two brothers: Richard and Stephen; and one sister and brother-in-law: JoAnn (Norman) Teaford. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Finian Zaucha, O.F.M. with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Friends may also call Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
