In memory of
Virgil Ray Hadley
PITTSFORD - Virgil Ray Hadley, age 73, of Pittsford passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at the home of his sister. He was born on Jan. 23, 1943, in Hudson, the son of Harry Benjamin and Mildred (Varner) Hadley. Virgil farmed and worked as an iron worker. He loved to build hit-n-miss miniature engines for tractors, enjoyed trains and the railroad. He currently was finishing a large miniature railroad track as he was very precise and electrically inclined. He was also a hunter, had a pretty good sweet tooth, a sharp eye for nice things and the simple life of "shooting the shit" over coffee at John and Selena's whenever he could. Virgil is survived by his daughter, Krystal (Craig) Jones of Clayton; son, Raymond Hadley of Pittsford; grandchildren, Raydean, Randy, Zackary, Hunter, Ashton and Benjamin; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Chuck) Deter of Pittsford, Donna Loper of Lansing and Ellen (Chuck) Story of Lake Charlevoix; brothers, Bob (Carol) Gump of Louisiana and Jim (Franny) Gump of Ohio; special nephew, John Fether; and many other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Hadley; a baby in infancy, a granddaughter, Penny Hadley; and his parents. A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at Rayba's Tennis Retreat, 8301 Coman Road, Hudson, with a service at 4 p.m. with Dr. Samuel E. Wickard officiating. A dinner will follow. Interment of his ashes will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at Prattville Cemetery in Hudson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson. Condolences and messages of comfort may be left at www.brownvanhemert.com.
