In memory of
Martha Redman Hall
Martha Redman Hall Born December 20, 1927, Martha Redman Hall, known as "Martie," passed away peacefully on Friday October 14, 2016. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Samuel Joseph "Joe" Hall on July 1, 2003. Martie was born in Princeton, Indiana and attended Indiana State University. She spent her early years working in the auto dealership business as a bookkeeper. She and Joe raised 3 boys, predominantly in St. Louis, MO. Her most masterful gift was being a wonderful mother to her sons and other immediate family members. Since Joe worked for GTE Sylvania and travelled a great deal, Martie was pretty much the "Boss" at home, being in charge of keeping the boys in line. She cultivated their abilities, provided them daily structure, and taught them what was really important in life. She and Joe later retired to Florida and finally to The Cypress of Hilton Head in 2000. Martie never knew a stranger and always had an open ear and hand for others. She loved her volunteer work at The Bargain Box at First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head, SC. She was a devoted Presbyterian and lover of God. Martie was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan and an active tennis, golf, and bridge player. She was a pianist and loved listening to music, as well as her visits to The Jazz Corner. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends who she touched in life. Martie leaves behind three sons, two daughters in law, and 4 grandchildren: Jeff and Wendy Hall of Hilton Head Island, and their children Chloe, Trevor, and his wife, Emory; Chuck Hall of Hilton Head Island, and Rob and Dale Hall of Charlotte NC and their children Ashley and Zachary. From the bottom of their hearts, the family would especially like to thank the staff at Tide Pointe and the nurses at the Cypress/Preston Health Center for the excellent care they provided to Martie in these last years. She loved them all. A private family service will be held later this fall. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made in her name to the Junior Jazz Foundation. Donations can be mailed to The Junior Jazz Foundation, c/o Community Foundation, PO Box 23019, Hilton Head Island, SC 29925. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory. theislandfuneralhome.com .
