Joseph Richard Szopo
Joseph Richard "Joey" Szopo, 27, died Friday, October 14, 2016, in Gulf Breeze Hospital, Gulf Breeze, Santa Rosa County, Fla., following a courageous battle with cystic fibrosis for the last 27 years. He was born June 17, 1989, in Gulfport, Miss., a son of Joseph William and Vicki Jo Mohr Szopo of St. Paris, Ohio. Mr. Szopo was a graduate of Graham High School in St. Paris. He enjoyed gaming and was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers. He enjoyed hockey and baseball as a child. He was known by his family and friends as "the kid with the biggest heart." Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Samantha Lynne (Ryan Rittenhouse) Szopo of St. Paris; maternal grandmother Patty Mohr of Hilliard, Ohio; maternal grandfather Richard Mohr of Washington; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Deceased are paternal grandparents Joseph and Mary Szopo; paternal grandmother Lillian Reihner; paternal stepgrandfather Jack Reihner; and maternal stepgrandmother Margaret Mohr. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, October 22, in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., corner of Wilson and East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, with the Rev. Linda Mankey officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
