Alfred Leon Holcombe January 13, 1927 - October 12, 2016 Born in Savanna, Oklahoma on January 13, 1927 Died October 12, 2016 at home in Modesto, California Lived 89 years. Survivors Wife: Naomi Davis Holcombe of 69 years Son:  Gary Leon Holcombe (Annette) Son: Keith Edwin Holcombe Daughter: Bonnie Darlene Sellers (Gary) Grandsons: Evan Davis Holcombe Sellers and Ryan Seth Holcombe Sellers Sister: Juanita Inez Lynch  Preceding Father: Thomas Peter Holcombe Mother: Lydia Marie Holcombe (Cavallo) Sister: Utahana Ilene Hamilton Al loved life and family but always put God first and prayed for immediate and extended family, friends and neighbors by name daily. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family through employment as Del Monte Can Plant manager. The highlights of his life were family gatherings, holiday gatherings and annual family camping reunions. He also accompanied his family and relatives to visit his son in Hong Kong. He made several mission trips to Ecuador, was a faithful worshiper at Modesto Covenant Church and home Bible Study leader. The love of his life was Naomi Darlene Davis whom he met after a church service at the 6th & G Assembly of God Church in Modesto and never looked at anyone else. They married 3 years later and were so in love for 69 years. Alfred & Naomi left retirement to take care of their grandsons living next door where he taught them so many things and made sure he was at every event in which they participated and was proud to be their mentor through their confirmation process. Alfred & Naomi had a heart to help many people who came into their life by showing up on their doorstep. They would give them a meal, a place to sleep or a job. They both worked tirelessly to help resettle Southeast Asian and Russian refugees to become integrated and successful Americans. Alfred also served with the US Army at the closing years of World War II in was stationed in Berlin, Germany in the occupational forces. Alfred went to be with the Lord peacfully at his home, surrounded by family, on October 12, 2016. Services at Salas Brothers Modesto on Wed., October 19 at 1:00pm. Burial at Ceres Memorial Park following the memorial. www.cvobituaries.com
