In memory of
Duwane Alfred Duval
Duwane Alfred Duval Virginia Beach - Duwane Alfred Duval departed his earthly life on Tuesday October 11, 2016 to join his parents Patricia A. Duval and Loren E. Duval, along with other family members, dear friends and his loving dog Jack. Duwane is survived by his siblings Chris Duval, Mark Duval, Pam Duval, Lee Duval, Michelle Duval along with Uncles, an Aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews. Duwane was a native VA. Beach man who grew up skating and running around the "grunt" with friends. He was an inquisitive boy, always wanting to figure out how and why things functioned. He was stubborn and always did things his way or not at all. Friends remember his Subaru Brat which he loved and all the trips to Hatteras to surf with his buddies. He had many incredible stories of waves he shared with his best friends as well as their adventures but mostly it was just goofing off. Duwane was loved by so many people. One of his greatest joys and pride was the creation of Java Surf. His culinary skills were developed to feed the local surf and skating community - sometimes for free. He was so proud to have served in the Army National Guard Reserves where his cadence earned him a position he enjoyed. As a friend said "Duwane had the unwaving ability to see the world with a child's sense of wonder - whatever it was, he had the innate ability to find the good in everything regardless of the risk involved and whatever it was, it was the coolest thing in the world and it was perfect" "Duwane made sure each and every person he touched with his "finger print" of life felt like they were the only person in the room" The family would like to sincerely thank all the Doctors/Staff at VA. Oncology, Sentara VA. Beach Hospital Oncology Floor and the Sentara Hospice House Team for each of you made Duwane feel comfortable on many days when his days were uncertain and dark, battling his Glioblastoma Brain Tumor Diagnosis. Duwane reconnected with his spiritual faith. He bore the life and testimony of knowing the love of Jesus Christ and through the love of Jesus all things are possible. "Hallelujah I have no time for tumors or females - my life and love now belong to Jesus. Don't complain be happy in the joy of knowing the love of Jesus Christ became his mantra. In lieu of flowers please donate to the National Brain Tumor Society. www.defeatGBM.org . to help cure this terrible disease. On Saturday November 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM there will be a Beach Service and a Paddle Out in Duwane's honor at the First Street Jetty. Please come and pay tribute to our brother and your dear friend.
