Kimiko "Kim" Lewis
Lewis Kimiko "Kim" Lewis, age 84, of Columbus, passed away peacefully after a long illness on October 14, 2016. Born March 16, 1932 in Tsuchiura, Japan to Haizaboro and Bun Maizawa. She followed her husband to the United States and became a citizen in 1955. She raised a family of five children while her husband proudly served in the United States Army to finally settle down in Hilliard and eventually in Columbus. She was a stay at home mother active in the PTA and other activities with her children and a former member of Glenwood United Methodist Church. She also took pride in her award winning poodles and her rose gardens. She worked part time as a floral designer at Garrison's located on the Hilltop, Evan's Floral of Grove City and with long-time friend Lou Viereck establishing herself as a well-known and respected designer thru the years. She ended her 40 year career in the floral industry with Walter J. Engel and Flowers by Mel when her eye sight was taken from diabetes. She remained a widow after the passing of her husband of 32 years and leaves behind a family that will greatly miss her. She is preceded in death by her husband Byron W. Lewis, MSgt., USA. Ret. and her son John D. Lewis. Survived by her children, Helen (Wesley) Coil of Gahanna; daughter-in-law, Vickie Lewis of Hilliard, William Craig Lewis of Columbus, Irma Lewis of Columbus and Jeannette (Joe) Hirn of Johnstown; grandchildren, Laura (Dan) Herzog, Marsha (Phil) Gartner, Brady (Alicia) Lewis, Brean (Ryan) Lucas, Michelle (Austin) Seelig, Sgt. Michael Bowersmith, USMC, Brooke (Katie) Krishack, Trevor Lewis and Ryan Lewis; along with numerous great grandchildren. In keeping with Kimiko's wishes her services will be held at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME located in Plain City, Ohio, where her family will receive visitors on Friday, October 21, 2016 between the hours of 4-6 p.m. with a memorial service to be held immediately following. Interment will take place at Forest Grove Cemetery on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
