In memory of
Connis, Mortimer Mortimer Connis, 50, fell asleep peacefully with his family by his side after a long courageous battle with diabetes, kidney disease and complications thereof. Mort enjoyed motorcycling, scuba diving and four wheeling. Regardless of his lifetime battle with diabetes, Mort continued to enjoy life and loved spending time with his family and friends. His greatest joy was his family and he cherished every moment with them. Mort was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was predeceased by his father, Mortimer A. Baldwin; step-father, Robert Connis; beloved in-laws, Robert and Marion Lamphere. He is survived by his devoted sister, Patricia Bettis; his wife, Patricia Connis; his children, Mortimer Connis, Jr. (Kimberly), Megan Connis (Tanner); his daughter-in-law, Tabitha Garrett (Corey); his grandchildren, Owen, Shelby and Alex. He is also survived by his mother, Peggy Connis; his siblings, Patricia Bettis (Michael Trevarthan), Cynthia Smales, Bob Connis (Charlotte), Tammy Jo Vymislicky (Greg), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to his nieces, Cynthia Lane (Mark), Mindy Orzel and Valerie Connis (Mike) who seldom left his side throughout. A special thanks to the staff of UHS Wilson Hospital and UHS Binghamton General for all their care and kindness during his numerous hospitalizations, he always felt welcomed and loved. Thank you to the dialysis nurse, Nicole Scott for making dialysis easier with your smile and loving support. He enjoyed watching cards with his friends at 110 Chenango Place (where he resided) and they were very helpful to him during his illness. Thank you Chad, Scott and Brian. He will be missed by all who knew him and his memory will be carried on forever by those who love him. At Mort's request, there will be no services and his ashes will be scattered. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through UHS Credit Union 10-42 Mitchell Ave. Binghamton, NY 13903 in his memory to a college fund that has been set up for his grandchildren.
