Thomas Slaughter
Thomas E. Slaughter Palmyra Thomas E. Slaughter, 67, passed away on October 17, 2016 in Pinnacle Community General Osteopathic Hospital with his loving wife by his side. He was born September 8, 1949 in Hershey, a son of Evelyn Brown Slaughter and the late John Slaughter, Sr. Tom was a 1967 graduate of Palmyra High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1969 1972. He was a retired driver for Bayard Sales in Harrisburg. He attended Linglestown Life Church, was Past Master and member of Brownstone Lodge #666, F&AM in Hershey, member of the Harrisburg Consistory; member and Past Commander of the Palmyra American Legion Post #72, member of Palmyra VFW Post #6417. Tom coached his children in various sport activities and never missed an event. He later refereed PIAA soccer and the "over thirty league" soccer games as well. He was also a PIAA, American Legion and Little League Baseball umpire. Tom also played ice hockey for many years. He loved his "34" Chevy, his Fatboy Harley and playing with his grandchildren.. Tom is survived by his wife of 41 years, Susan M. Christ Slaughter; son, Chad Owen Slaughter; daughter, Christie Sue (Max IV) Bartlebaugh; mother, Evelyn Slaughter; four grandchildren, Landen, Brielle, Baylee, Max,V.; brother, John (Sherry) Slaughter II; two sisters, Cindy (Ronald) Bracale and Kathy (Wayne) Pope; as well as many nieces; nephews; and cousins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nora Lynn Slaughter. A masonic service will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by a visitation until 6:30 p.m. in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., in Hershey on Thursday October 20. A service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation. Private inurnment with military honors will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or to Palmyra Civic Baseball, P.O.
