In memory of
Jerry John McCreery, 62, after a long struggle with failing health, passed peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in his home in Ft. Morgan, CO surrounded by his beloved family. A native and longtime resident of Ft. Morgan as well as the youngest of three, Jerry was born on July 13, 1954 to parents Jerry, Sr. and Colleen McCreery. He graduated from Ft. Morgan High School in 1972 and joined the Burlington Northern Railroad a few years later; he would spend the next forty plus years working on the track department, first as a laborer then as a machine operator. On June 23, 1984, after nearly a ten year courtship, Jerry married the love of his life, Heidi Saylor, in Heritage Square, Golden, CO. A year and a half later, while living in Denver, Jerry and Heidi welcomed the first of two much-loved children. In 1994, they moved back to Ft. Morgan where Jerry would reside for the rest of his life. A man of simple pleasures, Jerry loved cool mountain air and beautiful fishing holes, the roar of a well tuned motor and the wide open road, a hot cup of coffee and early morning music. You could always trust him to have a pocketknife and flashlight near at hand as well as a ready smile, easy laugh, and a generous heart. Above and beyond all else, however, was the all encompassing faith he had in the Lord and the deep, passionate love he had for his family (pets included). Whether it was working hard or playing hard, Jerry dedicated his life to those he loved and he loved nothing better than being with them every chance he could. Jerry is survived by his wife, Heidi McCreery, and oldest daughter, Sierra McCreery, and younger son, Cameron McCreery, and his wife, Mickaela McCreery, and their young son, Maverick McCreery. Jerry is also survived by his eldest sister, Shirley Phillips, and her husband, Paul Phillips. Additionally, Jerry is survived by his sister, Diann Larson, and Diann's eldest son, Tate Larson, and Linda Reding, and their children, Jake Reding, Chase Reding, and Adrianne Larson, as well as Diann's youngest son, Casey Larson, and his wife, Andrea Larson, and their children Brennon Larson, Kyle Larson, Kendall Larson, and young Cameron Larson. Furthermore, Jerry is survived by his aunt Eleanor and numerous cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and maternal uncle, John Martin, Jr. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 3 to 6 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11 AM at The Sanctuary. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery and then a late lunch will be offered back at The Sanctuary for all that wish to join. Financial gifts may be made to the Jerry McCreery Memorial Fund in care of Heer Mortuary and will eventually be used to start a college fund for Jerry's beloved grandson, Maverick. The Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
