Joseph Starr Oct. 18, 1925 ~ Oct. 12, 2016 Resident of Walnut Creek Joe Starr passed away peacefully, at the age of 90, in John Muir Medical Center. He was an active, sixteen-year resident of the Rossmoor Community of Walnut Creek where he cultivated a garden, was an avid tennis player and a passionate ballroom dancer. He served as 2004 President of the Rossmoor Social Dance Club and was an enthusiastic member of the Ballroom Dance Club. Joe was born in Brooklyn, New York. When he was three, he moved to his beloved family farm in the Catskills. After serving in the army during World War II, Joe hitchhiked to California where he attended UC Berkeley and the physical therapy program at UCSF. After graduating, Joe became a highly respected Bay Area physical therapist, building a thriving private practice in several locations from 1950 to 1992. He became known for his astute diagnostic abilities and gentle healing touch. Joe was also a gifted watercolorist who enjoyed creating unique cards for family and friends. His vibrant, youthful spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Joe is survived by his daughters, Holly Cvetich and Tara Starr, son-in- laws Michael Cvetich and Bruce Brown, and grandchildren Rachel and Jared Cvetich, and Zack and Alexa Brown.
