In memory of
Gerald Wright
Gerald R. Wright, aged 86, took the hand of his Lord and passed into Glory early in the morning on Saturday, October 15, 2016. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and then worked many years for General Electric. He treated those around him with love, respect, and generosity. He was a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who raised a family taught to be honest, hardworking, and respectful. He loved to spend time with his family as well as evenings with friends and neighbors sitting in the family backyard. Knowing him, loving him, and laughing with him was a gift to us all. The greatest gift of all is knowing that through faith we will see him again. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Evelyn; son, Kirk (Cindy) Wright; daughter, Deborah Johnston; grandchildren, Derek (Julie) Wright, Sarah Draeger, Ross (Natalie) Johnston, Elizabeth (Christopher) Gunnink and Thomas Johnston. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Haramis and Donna (Jack) Greenawalt; brother-in-law, Jack Parmer, and half-brother David (Terry) Wright. The Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Arsulowicz Brothers East Mortuary 937 Michigan Ave NE, Grand Rapids where his family will receive visitors 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions to Emmanuel Hospice or the Lupus Foundation of America will be appreciated.
