In memory of
Helen May Harlan MANSFIELD: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Proverbs 3:5 Helen May Harlan, age 91, passed away Wednesday evening, October 12, 2016, at Oak Grove Manor. She was born October 3, 1925, in Polk, Ohio, to the late Walter and Mary (Wilson) Hursh. Helen graduated from Madison High School and worked for Branden-Burg Chevrolet and Mansfield General Hospital before marrying the love of her life, Donald Harlan, in 1949. After her marriage, her family became her main priority and she helped her husband in many ways on the family farm. Leading by example, Helen instilled a strong work ethic and unbreakable faith to her children. Family was everything to Helen and she was the best mother anyone could have. Steadfast and comforting, she was always there anytime anyone in her family needed her. In her free time, Helen enjoyed road trips, cross stitch and quilting. She is survived by three sons, Marvin Harlan, John (Suz) Harlan and Dale Harlan; two granddaughters, Becky Harlan and Patty Yost; four great-grandchildren, Haley Wiley, William, Daniel and Rona Hardin; a sister, Wilma J. Walker; a sister-in-law, Helen Hursh; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Harlan; and a brother, Russell Hursh. A private graveside service conducted by Rev. Mark Bailey was held on Monday, October 17, 2016, in Windsor Park Cemetery. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family. The family wishes to give special thanks and gratitude to the staff at OhioHealth, Oak Grove Manor and Southern Care Hospice for their professionalism, wonderful care and genuine compassion shown to Helen and her family.
