Anna M. Dapp
Anna Marguerite Dapp of Mount Pocono passed away Friday evening, Oct. 14, 2016, at the Hospice House of Monroe County. She was born in Philadelphia on Feb. 14, 1924, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Leatherman) Dapp. She resided in Mount Pocono since 1960. She was a graduate of Roxborough High School, Class of 1942, and Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania majoring in accounting. She was a member and past president of the Alpha Phi Woman's Accounting Serority of the University of Pa. She began her career in the Poconos as a financial controller in 1960, for a 700-room resort called Pocono Crest (also known as Lutherland) which was owned by Valaparaiso University. She also worked as a financial advisor for the Philadelphia National Bank, when the resort was sold for land development. In 1972, she became the financial controller of the 500-room resort known as Taminent Resort. She left in 1982 when the resort was sold to Wayne Newton of Las Vegas. In 1982, she became the financial controller for Shawnee Inn and Country Club for the next 12 years. In 1994, she became a financial advisor to the owner of Shawnee Inn, Charles Kirkwood. In 1996, she retired from Shawnee Inn at the age of 72. She formed her own company in 1965 known as Hamilton Hotel Representatives, which was instrumental in bringing thousands of senior citizens on lunch, dinner and overnight stops to the leading Pocono resorts. She represented Split Rock Lodge in booking hotel stays. The company was discontinued when gambling came to Atlantic City. She is a person of interest in the Marquis's 12th edition of the Who's Who of American Women and the 20th edition of the who's who in the east. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women. Preceding her in death was her fiancé, Robert Hayward; sister, Doris Bottley; and niece, Dorothy Ann Larkin; sister, Bette Jan Furlong. She is survived by God daughter, Margie Blair Thomas, Woodbury Heights, N.J.; God daughter, Shirley Owens, Ashland, Va.; Francis Larkin Sr., Pottstville; great-nephew; Francis Larkin Jr., Minersville; niece, Melanie and Ed Crepease, Tipp City, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in the Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton.
