In memory of
LEGAULT, WILLIAM L., 91, formerly of Coventry, passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol on Thursday, October 13, 2016. He was the husband of the late Viola (Coutu) Legault. Born in West Warwick, a son of the late Rudolph and Maria (Lamothe) Legault, he had been a resident of the Pawtuxet Valley all his life. A Navy veteran of WWII, William served on the USS Arkansas Battleship in both the Pacific and European Theatres, and was the last survivor who served on that ship. He was a truck driver for over 28 years at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station and worked in maintenance in the Coventry School Department before retiring. He was also the Deputy Chief of the Anthony Fire Station in Coventry for 23 years before retiring from the department in 1982. He is survived by his loving children, Cheryl L. Parrot and Patricia A. Siedlecki, both of Coventry, Carmel Wilson of St. Petersburg, Fl, Carol Livernois of Exeter, Karen M. Richer of West Greenwich, Kathy A. Benjamin and Norman A. Legault, both of West Warwick, and Robin A. Powers of Warwick; 3 brothers, Arthur Legault of Coventry, Raymond Legault of Cranston and Gerard Legault of West Warwick; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Albert L. "Butch" Legault and Brian K. Legault. His committal service and military honors will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Chapel at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter. Relatives and friends may gather at the cemetery in front of the administration buildings at 10:45 am and we will then proceed to the Chapel for 11:00 am.
