In memory of
Reese Malcolm Lindquist
Reese Malcolm Lindquist March 28, 1936 ~ October 2, 2016 The son of A.J. (Swede) and Katharine Lindquist, Reese grew up in Seattle with his brother, Malcolm, and sister, Mary. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1954, and from the University of Washington in 1958, where he was the starting center and linebacker for the Huskies, finishing as "All Pac-8". He married Cecile Evans and entered the U.S. Navy, eventually retiring as Commander. They raised two sons, Mark and Brian, spending summers sailing and at the family beach place in Spee-Bi-Dah. Reese taught history and social studies and coached the Queen Anne High School football team for years, winning the City Championship in 1972. He was elected President of Seattle Education Association in 1978 and elected President of Washington Education Association in 1981, before running for Congress in 1986 and 1988. He inspired many students, colleagues, family and friends to become socially and politically active through his unrelenting dedication to equality, peace and tolerance as reflected by his service on many boards and committees. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Cecile, and daughter-in-laws, Elizabeth and Chelsea, and grandchildren, Jackson, Evan and Sloane, sister-in-law Mary Anne McGillivray, brother-in-law Peter Bogdanoff, and his extended family. A memorial service will held at Touchdown Terrace at Husky Stadium Oct. 29th at 2:00pm. Donations can be made to the WEA Children's Fund at: www.washingtonea.org/membership/childrensfund/
