MELVA BEMIS Melva (Mel) Bemis, 91, born in Portland, OR, Nov.14, 1924, passed on Oct. 13, 2016 in Bradenton, FL. She was a speech pathologist for 20 years in the Hays, KS, school district. After retirement, she resided in Gunnison, CO, and Green Valley, AZ, before moving to Palmetto, FL, in 2003. Mel was a snowbird, spending winters in Green Valley. She so enjoyed her friends there, playing bridge, and taking in concerts, musicals, and theatrical performances in Tucson, AZ. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom Bemis, an Ellis County, KS, rancher and inventor in 1974. She is survived by three children: George Bemis (Jean), Cambridge MN; Ann Bemis, Bradenton, FL; and Bill Bemis, Ellis, KS; four grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter. A life, fully lived. Memorial Service at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at the Manatee Unitarian Universalist Church, 322 15th St. W., Bradenton, FL.
