Edith F. Wertman Edith F. Wertman, 98, passed away on October 15, 2016 at The Gardens at Westlake Assisted Living. She was born August 15, 1918, in Lakewood, Ohio, the daughter of Frank M. and Johanna (Harms) Wulf. Her husband of 51 years, Daniel M. Wertman, former associate editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, predeceased her in 1992. Longtime residents of Lakewood, Edie and Dan retired to Spartanburg, South Carolina, in 1980, where she resided until a year ago. Edie was a graduate of Lakewood High School and Ohio University, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She was active in College Club, art and music appreciation groups, book clubs, and the Newcomers Club in Spartanburg. She enjoyed classical music, gardening, and numerous trips to the American West, particularly the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. She treasured time spent with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Edie leaves behind daughters Cheryl Johansen (Arthur F., deceased) of Westlake, OH and Virginia Wertman (H. Stanley Bolding) of Williamsburg, VA; granddaughters Lisa (Yoder) Martin (Brad) of Cleveland, OH, Laura (Yoder) DeCoste (Ken) of Westborough, MA, and Lesley Yoder of Acton, MA; great-grandchildren Brooks and Addison DeCoste.
