In memory of
David Coy
It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of David Coy, who passed on August 26, 2016. Dave was born in Tacoma, Washington in 1942. He graduated from Highlands High School, worked at Breuner's Furniture for 25 years, attended CSUS and graduated with his AA degree at American River College. David had a brilliant mind, a warm and gentle soul, great smile and he loved music, particularly jazz. He was a drummer for years, he loved camping, spending time with his grandsons, photography, astronomy, genealogy, writing stories, antiquing, coffee with friends and the San Francisco Giants. He frequently scoured thrift stores with an eye for the unique and antique, researched methodically, and knew and appreciated rare finds. Dave was a man of quiet intelligence and wit who loved his family and friends with all of his heart. After retiring from Breuner's Furniture, Dave volunteered with the Veteran's History Project interviewing veterans and documenting their stories. This work was very meaningful to him. Dave survived polio as a nine year old boy that left him with a weak leg and weakened respiratory system. Years later post polio syndrome resulted in a permanent tracheostomy which he had for 18 years. Never a man to say why me, Dave refused to isolate himself. He came to know these challenges only increased his spirituality and sensitivity to others. His favorite saying was "Things always play out just as they are meant to be". Dave always showed genuine interest in others. Everyone he met became a friend. This humble man left this earth being honored by so many who said "Dave was a great guy. Everybody loved him." Dave is survived by his daughter, Bree and son-in-law, Jeff; grandsons Evan, Jay and Jack; his beloved Marie and her family who loved him very much; his sisters Mardi and Andi, and many other family and friends who loved him including his many AA friends. Celebration of Life service on Sat., Oct. 22, 2016 at 1:00pm at Pathway Fellowship, 8525 Madison Ave., Fair Oaks, CA 95628. In lieu of flowers, please do a kind deed and be generous to a stranger, friend or family member who does not expect it, or donate to your favorite charity. This will ensure that Dave's legacy of kindness and caring endures.
