In memory of
Kathryn Louise "Kate" BLASINGAME
BLASINGAME, Kathryn Louise "Kate" Passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior on August 25, 2016 in Sun City, AZ after a brief struggle with cancer. Sun City, AZ was our mother's "happy place" or as she would state "God's waiting room". She was also welcomed by her late husband Jim Blasingame, who was patiently waiting to reunite just before their 62nd wedding anniversary. Kate was born on August 2, 1933 in Greenbay, WI to Dr. John R. Goggins and his wife Lelah. She moved to Salmon, ID at the age of eight where her father started a family medical practice. He was Salmon's sole town Doctor. During summer vacations from their Catholic Boarding School, she and her sister Mary worked at the practice greeting patients and answering the phone. She enjoyed her growing years in Salmon and made many life long friends; especially with her best friend, Joanne Tingle, whom she spoke with daily until the end. While raising four children she held several administrative positions with the State of Washington until retiring early to assist Jim with his insurance business. Together they built a lifetime of memories with family, travel, building or remodeling homes. The grass never grew under her feet, as she either had a paintbrush, garden tool, golf club, playing bridge or dog leash in hand. Family, friends and her dog Murphy were Mom's greatest passion and delight. She loved to decorate and entertain, hosting many dinner parties including holidays with family and friends. After many years of being a snowbird, she made her permanent residence in 2015 in Sun City, AZ, Dad and Mom's last project together. Kate was preceded in death with husband Jim, daughter Jimi Louise and brother Mike. She is survived by her daughter Sue (Bill) Pinkerton, sons Scott (Kelly) and Brian; blessed with six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and her sister Mary Alderman. Our family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness this past summer, especially Hospice Nurse Susan who adopted Murphy. We love and miss you, Mom! In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name to Serenity Hospice, 2999 N. 44th #225, Phoenix, AZ 85018. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 3327 S. Perry, Spokane, WA. Inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at 1pm.
