HOYT Roma Esma Roma Esma Hoyt, 90, of Toledo, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 17, 1926 in Campsie Sydney, Australia to parents, Francis and Myrtle Neilly. Roma met her husband Kenneth, who was serving in the U.S. Navy and briefly stationed in Sidney Australia during World War II. They married in July of 1945. In September of that year, Roma was one of the 1st WWII war-brides to come on the S.S. Lurline ship to the United States. Roma loved to camp, bowl, dance, country music, and telling her children and grandchildren all about Australia. She had a special nickname, “Roma Do”. She also extended her household to all the neighbor kids and in one instance took in a single mother of two to help her through rough times. She had a heart of gold. Roma is survived by her 9 children, Rodney (Linda) Hoyt, Gary (Christine) Hoyt, Sandy Lawson, Sharon (Jim) Hindall, Debby (Raul) Ledesma, Marsha (Doug) Plocek, Donna (Greg) Johnson, Denise Smith (Tony Woods), Dennis (Bev) Hoyt; daughter-in-law, Kathy Hoyt; 31 grandchildren, Chad, Brooke, Matt, Erin, Kenny, Jessica, Lisa, Nikki, Corey, Chris, Jennifer, Becky, Jamey, Callie, Todd, Jeremy, Kelly, Jason, Paul, Raul Ben, Andrea, Brad, Sarah, Lindsey, Brandon, Rachel, Matt, Justin, Joshua, Jill and Austin; 68 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Dulcie Wills and Dawn Gibbions and numerous nieces and nephews in Australia. Roma was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; sons, Rick and Kevin Hoyt, and sister, Doris Campbell. Friends may call at the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave., on Wednesday October 19, 2016 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Fr. James Auth officiating. Interment in Restlawn Cemetery. The family suggests charitable contributions go to Helping Hands of St. Louis, 1933 Spielbush Ave., Toledo, OH 43604. or Hospice Paramount. Roma was a loving wife and wonderful mother. She touched the lives of many family and friends with her big heart and caring ways, and will be sadly missed.
