Clarence "Ray" Johnston October 11, 1931 - October 10, 2016 Resident of Alameda After a courageous fight, Clarence "Ray" Johnston safely slid into home plate on October 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his daughter Cindi Putman, grandson Josh Di Fabio and Josh's wife Crystal. He is also survived by his older brother Jimmy Johnston of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years Barbara. Ray was a hard worker and lived simply. He loved his family fiercely, especially Josh and Crystal to whom he thought hung the moon. He loved having them in his life. As a younger man he played second base in the minor leagues. In more recent years he kept active by walking his beloved dog Jake, playing golf, bocce and pool. Please join us for services at Alameda Funeral & Cremation Services, 1415 Oak Street, Alameda. Viewing/sharing Friday October 22, 2016 starts at 9:30am with the service starting at 11:30 am.
