Assignments included the coronation of Pope Paul VI in Rome and the pontiff's travels to the Holy Land, the activities of Cardinals from New York and major U. S. political figures. He was eventually named head of the News' Color Studio and became Photographic Editor in 1975, which he held until retirement in 1982. An avid golfer, Peters raised a family with his late wife of 63 years, Joan, in Old Bethpage, NY., as well as a home in Tobyhanna, PA. Their children included sons Edmund and Francis, and daughters, Mary Frances and Allen Bohner, Jean Patti, and the late Susan Kearney and Joseph Kearney.
