Albert H. Berical
Albert H. Berical, 83 of Liverpool passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2016 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Oneida, NY son of Albert and Helena Berical on March 12, 1933. Al grew up in Oneida, NY and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, for which he was very proud. Following graduation, Al joined the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in Portland, Maine where he married Patricia A. Davis on May 16, 1953. They celebrated 45 years of marriage prior to her passing away on December 6, 1998. Al worked as an engineer for General Electric, retiring in 1993 after 36 years, where Al received several patents for his work on AN/TPS-59 radars. Following retirement Pat and Al volunteered for many years at Community General Hospital. Al enjoyed the outdoors, including camping, hunting and hiking and stood on the peak of Mt. Marcy at the age of 60. He was a long time member of Camp 4 and the Miller Park Association, where he loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed being a member of the Durhamsville Vets Club. Together Pat and Al raised six children, five of whom survive. He was predeceased by his son David on April 14, 2002. Al is survived by his sons William (Susan) of Endicott, NY; Timothy of Columbus, Ohio; and Thomas (Tracey) of Wheatfield, NY; and daughters Kathleen (Peter) Gade of Baldwinsville, NY; Theresa (Joseph) Casal of East Berne, NY and daughter in law Therese (David) of Liverpool, NY: seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Monday, October 17, 2016, 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second Street, Liverpool, NY. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 10:30 AM, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 425 Beechwood Avenue, Liverpool, NY where Al served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to North Area Meals on Wheels, 213 Church Street, North Syracuse, NY 13212 where Al volunteered for many years.
