In memory of
James E. Trocki
James E. "Jim" Trocki, 73, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016, of complications from a lengthy illness. Jim was born in Erie, on March 2, 1943, to the late Felix T. and Virginia Kaltenbach Trocki. Jim was a member of the Class of 1961 of Cathedral Prep and a graduate of Gannon College. He received a Master's degree in Counseling Education from Penn State University in 1968. Jim moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1970 and made that city his home because "you never have to shovel sun." Jim was a licensed, certified counselor and held a number of positions in counseling and training over the years. He was also very active in his community and served on numerous civic boards and commissions. Jim met his wife Joan in 1982 while hot-air ballooning. They loved to travel and Jim made a point to always come home to Erie for his Prep class reunions. Jim is survived by his wife, Joan Kelchner, his brother, Michael (Grace) and sister, Barbara Cullen. He is further survived by nephews, Robert and Matthew Cullen, and James Trocki and nieces, Sharon Bittner and Michelle Michael, his Godchild, Gretchen Denial, as well as a great-niece and great-nephew and numerous cousins. A celebration of life will be held for Jim in Erie at a later date. Memorial contributions in Jim's memory may be made to Prep/Villa Adopt-a-Student Program, 225 W. 9th St., Erie, PA 16501, as this program was integral to his nephew attending Prep, or to the Erie Home for Children and Adults.
