FRANKLINVILLE - Beverly Vandenberg Cooper died Friday (Oct. 14, 2016) at the Pines in Olean following a short illness. Born July 13, 1932, in Franklinville, she was the daughter of Glenn D. and Pauline Bill. She married Richard G. Cooper on Oct. 19, 1973, who predeceased her in March 2011. Mrs. Cooper graduated from Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville and West Brook Business Academy in Olean. She was employed as a secretary at various places, having retired in 1994 from the law firm of Moriarty and Swanz after 23 years of service. She enjoyed bird watching, playing card games and entertaining her family, especially her grandchildren. Beverly was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church of Franklinville, where she taught Sunday school for many years, sang in the choir and served on various committees, most notably serving for over 15 years as secretary of the church governing board. Surviving are a daughter, Ann Marie (George) Dziekonski of Franklinville; two sons, David R. Vandenberg of Olean, and Gary L. Jeanette) Vandenberg of Austin, Texas; four stepchildren, Robert (Gloria) Cooper, Brian (Donna) Cooper and Lisa Wilson, all of Grants Pass, Ore., and James Cooper of California; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara J. Hope of Franklinville, and Shirley E. Berta of Glenn Heights of Texas; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Other than her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Robert D. Vandenberg, in August of 1991. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home in Franklinville. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Christian Missionary & Alliance Church of Franklinville. Interment will be in Mount Prospect Cemetery in Franklinville. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Christian Missionary & Alliance Church of Franklinville, The Ambulance Fund of the Franklinville Fire Department or the Cattaraugus County SPCA in Olean.
