Richard E. Clevenger, 86, passed away, Friday, Oct. 14, 2016. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Hurst. Entombment: Greenwood Mausoleum. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Hurst. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donate to North Dakota Missions, in care of First Baptist Church of Hurst, 1801 Norwood, Hurst, 76054. Dick was born Jan. 20, 1930, in East Detroit, Mich., to Edna and Robert Clevenger. He married the love of his life, Dorothy, in 1954 and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He served with the U.S. Air Force for four years. After his military service, he served the rest of his career in electrical engineering retiring in 1993 from LTV in Grand Prairie. After retirement, he devoted his life to mission work in North Dakota and Mexico with the church as well as traveling with his wife, Dorothy, doing ceramic shows nationwide and witnessing to a multitude of people. After ceramic shows, Dick became Lemon Peel, the clown to bring joy to the elderly and children alike. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Clevenger. Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Dorothy Clevenger; sons, Richard Clevenger Jr. and wife, Terry, Timothy Clevenger and wife, Amy, and Greg Clevenger and fiancee, Regina; grandchildren, Drew, Blake, Tyler, Tanner, Timothy, Alyssa and Neil; great-grandchildren, Kandace and Athena; and sister, Winifred Clevenger.
