CANASTOTA > > Grace H. Tornatore, 82, New Yorker Avenue, died late Friday evening, Oct. 14, 2016, in the comfort of her home with her family beside her. Born in Bayside, Long Island on Feb. 16, 1934, she was the daughter of George and Gladys Granberg Brush. A resident of Canastota for over sixty years, Grace graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School and Central City Business Institute. She married Carl J. Tornatore, in St. Agatha's Church, on Nov. 25, 1954. Carl died on Nov. 17, 2009. Prior to her retirement, Grace was employed with the Canastota School District. She was a communicant of St. Agatha's Church, where she sang in the choir, taught religious education and was a member of the parish's Bereavement Committee. Grace also served with the Canastota Cooking Club, which cooked and delivered meals to the homebound and had a great love for her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Nastasi of Odessa, Fla.; her three sons and two daughters-in-law, Carmen T. Tornatore of Frederick, Md., Steven J. and Pamela Tornatore of Oriental, N.C. and Robert G. and Kathy Tornatore of Marietta; her five grandchildren, Danielle, Alyssa, Elizabeth and Alexandra Tornatore and Erin Staab and her husband, Richard; her great-granddaughter, Stella Sophia Arias; her sister and brother-in-law, Gale and Paul Lumadue of Chesapeake, Va.; several nieces and nephews and many beloved friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Brennan. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, from St. Agatha's Church, where the Funeral Mass will be con-celebrated by the Reverends William Mesmer and Phillip Hearn. Interment will be made in St. Agatha's Cemetery. Friends may call at the church, 9-10:30 a.m., Friday , prior to the Funeral Mass. Contributions, in her memory, may be made to St. Agatha's Bereavement Committee, 329 North Peterboro St., Canastota, N.Y. 13032 or Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, N.Y. 13413.
