William G. "Bill" Midgett Sr.
William "Bill" G. Midgett Sr. 1923—2016 William "Bill" G. Midgett Sr., 93, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016, in Wesley Willows Health Center. He was born June 14, 1923, in Ocracoke, NC; the son of William R. and Almyrta (Jones) Midgett. He married Phyllis Aronson on Nov. 10, 1945, in Rockford; she predeceased him February 2001. Bill served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed with Barber Colman where he worked as a quality control engineer. Bill was also a longtime member of The Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, serving in their visitation, jail, and adult rehabilitation ministries. After September 11, 2001, he participated in the cleanup at the World Trade Center in New York. Bill was most happy when sharing his life with family. He is survived by his son, Bill (Linda) Midgett of Rockton; 5 grandchildren, Trisha (Ed) Greenfield, Greg (Jenny) Midgett, Erin (Jared) Insko, Andy (Arisa) Midgett, and Becky (Kyle) Logan; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Ann) Midgett; and very special friend, Shirley Moore. Predeceased by sisters, Marion, Jean, Marjorie, and Daisy. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 21 , 2016, in Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, 500 S. Rockford Ave., Rockford, IL 61104, with Col. Harry Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rockford Temple-Salvation Army Tabernacle (put in note line, after school kids program).
