Pauline Running Crane
Pauline RunningCrane Heart Butte —Pauline Running Crane passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at the Browning IHS Hospital in Browning, MT, surrounded by family and friends. Pauline was born on April 17, 1936, at Badger Creek, MT, to Paul and Jenny (Guardipee) Running Crane. She attended schools in Badger Creek at the Mad Plume School and later on went to high school in Flandreau, South Dakota, where she graduated in 1955. Pauline attended college at the Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell, Blackfeet Community College in Browning, U of M in Missoula, Rocky Mountain College in Billings, and college in Salt Lake City, Utah. She achieved her teaching degree in elementary education and bilingual education. She worked for the Blackfeet Headstart, the Heart Butte Schools, Browning Public Schools, the Blackfeet Tribal EMS Program, and was a member of the Blackfeet Elder Women's Honorary Council. Pauline is survived by her sons Virgil Last Star, Fred Makes Cold Weather, Calvin and Clinton Dusty Bull, and Donnie Running Crane; daughters Pauline Makes Cold Weather and Tammy Running Crane; brothers Gene Guardipee, Eddie Running Crane, Al Potts, Tommy Lame Bear and Floyd Melting Tallow; sisters Esther Spotted Bear, Darlene Spotted Bear, Theresa Schenck and Arlene Augare; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jenny; daughter Baby-girl Gallagher; brothers Felix Running Crane, Melvin Running Rabbit, and Paul "Tiny Man" Running Crane; sisters Ursula Makes Cold Weather, Sarah Running Crane-Evans, JoAnn Rattler, and Eloise England; son Eddie Running Crane Jr and son-in-law Clifford "Squeakie" Spotted Eagle. The Wake is currently in progress at the Heart Butte Community Center with the Rosary on Friday, October 14th at 7:00 pm; and Mass on Saturday, October 15th at 11:00 am at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Heart Butte.
